Atomic App

Atomic App is a tool testing your code changes before deploying them to the cluster. Atomic App was designed to overcome Tilt’s limitations:

  • Tilt’s instability leads to wasted developer time
  • Compatibility issues across local environments (Docker versions, macOS versions, local tools)
  • Resource limitations tied to local machine power
  • Overhead in maintaining Tilt configurations on individual machines, separate to our clusters.

Advantages:

  • Atomic application in a dev environment (simulates production closer)
  • Runs on a shared, robust EKS cluster, autoscaled, independent of developer hardware.
  • Provides consistency in environment configuration across systems, it doesnt care about the developer’s local environment.

  • trino-coordination (with sidecars)
  • trino-worker (with sidecars)
  • Ingress (provides a way to access the services from outside the cluster, using teleport)
